Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey advises that unsettled playmaker Philippe Coutinho follow the Luis Suarez model if he wants to exit Anfield.

The Brazil international wanted to force a move away from Anfield this summer as his dream club Barcelona were seeking to reinforce.

Andres Iniesta was yet to agree a new deal and he was aging fast. Neymar’s transfer meant the team needed to return to team football with a new manager in place. Luis Enrique worked with the trident –Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez. However in the absence of one and with the team lacking motivation to continue, the plan was change the style of play.

Coutinho is a gifted footballer in the middle and plays dominant attacking football that would fit Barca very well. He has also dreamt of playing at theNou Camp so it was a very convenient move. Had it happened earlier and he able to convince Coach Jurgen Klopp to sanction his transfer, it could have worked out very well.

Liverpool have been building a steady profile under Klopp and finances were pretty settled with the backing of owners Fenway Sports Group. With Barca racing to complete the deal and Liverpool not obligated to sell as the player signed a new deal this year, there was a stalemate. Read more »

Suarez on Liverpool

Former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez believes that Liverpool is a team that should always be playing in the Champions League.

The Barcelona striker said that Liverpool is a massive club and has a great fan base and that it is necessary for a team of this stature to be participating in the Champions League.

Luis Suarez believes that they have a great manager in Jurgen Klopp and that he has made a great job in getting Liverpool back in the Champions League. The former striker said that it is never easy for a manager to take charge of a new club and that it is normal that he needed some time in order to find his best team.

He said that he has had an excellent season for this first year in charge and that there is no doubt that the team will become better.

Luis Suarez said that Klopp has reached his objectives of getting Liverpool back in the Champions League and that now he will be hoping of challenging for the Premier League title. Read more »


Chelsea striker Diego Costa has reached 50 Premier League goals faster than former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez – Barcelona’s current striker who Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal reportedly teased for losing to Juventus when both sides met at the El Clasico recently.

Chelsea saw off Southampton 4-2 at home on Tuesday. Diego Costa grabbed a brace in the game and also made a goalscoring record.

Costa is the eighth quickest player to break through the 50-goal mark in Premier League history. He does this a game fewer than Suarez. However, United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy, City star Sergio Aguero and Arsenal ex top goal poacher Thierry Henry did it in fewer games.

Andy Cole reached the milestone the quickest in 65 games. Magpies legend Alan Shearer did it a game more than Cole but it took Nistelrooy 68 matches. Liverpool former striker Fernando Torres made a feat when he reached the 50-goal mark in 72 games following his transfer from La Liga side Atletico Madrid. Read more »


Barcelona were shocked by their 2-1 loss to Deportivo during their trip to Estadio Riazor.

Luis Suarez had set-up the La Liga defending champions for a victory when he netted first but goals from Joselu and Alex Bergantinos ensured Barca got their third loss of the season.

The result ends the seven-game winning run of Barcelona in the league. It is surprising, considering that the team just produced the greatest comeback ever in the continent in the return leg against PSG.

Aside the painful loss for the club, Suarez would be hurt to see one of his stellar records gone. Before the game, the Uruguay international won every game that he scored in. It was one of the most astonishing records for Suarez since his 2013 move to Camp Nou. Read more »


Brazilian star Neymar has named Marcelo as the only Real Madrid player he wants to join Catalan giant Barcelona.

The gold Olympic medallist was interviewed by CNN where he was asked which Madrid star he would like to play in Nou Camp. Cristiano Ronaldo would be an easy guess on the lips of many, considering his Euro 2016 title win and fourth Ballon d’Or win but surely personal grouse would never let that happen. The 24-year old opted for his compatriot Marcelo.

The left back has been with Santiago Bernabeu for years now. Both stars play for Brazil and are friends.

“To play with me at Barcelona? I would pick Marcelo. Because he’s my friend,” Neymar responded.

When asked to reconsider, he insisted: “No, I’d pick Marcelo.”

Despite the personal issues, the Brazilian praised the trio of Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema at Real. Read more »


Chile international Alexis Sanchez is set to lose his position as striker in the Arsenal squad, with reports that the Gunners have finally landed a forward from Deportivo La Caruna.

Lucas Perez has been on the club’s radar for long, but with the transfer deadline closing in a few days, Arsenal signed him to join Olivier Giroud in leading the attack.

Sanchez has been playing the position, since the poor run of form of Frenchman Giroud, with coach Arsene Wenger claiming the former Barcelona star player has all the requires qualities to play upfront. Wenger compared him to La Liga golden boot holder and former Reds Striker Luis Suarez.

“He has similar qualities [to Suarez] and he has a good timing to run behind the defenders,” Wenger said in defence of the Chilean in the role. Former Reds striker Emile Heskey also hailed Suarez, asking that Liverpool get a player of Suarez’s quality to try to replace him, as he believes he cannot be replaced.
