SUAREZ ON TARGET IN CRUCIAL WIN

Uruguay striker Luis Suarez has scored a lot of important goals for Atletico Madrid in the Spanish top flight since his transfer to the capital last summer and he scored two more during the re-arranged league match at Eibar on Thursday night. Luis Suarez was responsible for both Atletico Madrid goals as the La Liga leaders came from conceding an early penalty to secure three points against Eibar and also extend their lead over city rivals Real Madrid at the La Liga summit. Luis Suarez scored twice either side of the break to lead Atletico Madrid to a 2-1 victory away from home.

Atletico Madrid conceded the first goal of the game when Serbian goalkeeper Marko Dimitrov scored from the penalty spot on 12 minutes. Eibar led until the final five minutes of the first half when the impressive Luis Suarez charged down a clearance from Eibar midfielder Sergio Alvarez before netting the equaliser for the away team. Luis Suarez scored the first of his two goals on 40 minutes. Atletico Madrid left it late to take all three points after Luis Suarez won and scored the penalty that gave the leaders all the three points. Luis Suarez was fouled by AnaitzArbilla with one minute left on the clock before he produced a cheeky finish from the resulting penalty to give Atletico Madrid all three points.
Luis Suarez scored the two goals for Atletico Madrid to take his league tally for the season to 11 goals. The experienced striker has now scored 11 goals plus two assists in 14 league outings this season since his €6m transfer from fellow Spanish giants Barcelona. He has played for Barcelona 18 times this season. His goals extended the lead for Atletico Madrid to seven points over holders and nearest challengers Real Madrid in the race for the La Liga title.
