SUAREZ MUST STAY

Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish has suggested that it is extremely important that the club retain services of Luis Suarez amidst a lot of speculation linking the Uruguay striker with a move to Real Madrid in the January transfer window. Suarez handed a transfer request to the club in the summer after growing tired of life without Champions league football. He has stated that he remains extremely happy with Liverpool as a club, but he wants to test himself in the highest level possible and the Champions league provides an opportunity for him.

Arsenal came in with an official offer for him in the summer. Even though they are not expected to renew their interest in January, Suarez will be subjected to interest from other clubs across Europe – most notably Real Madrid. The Spanish giants are thought to be unhappy with their current striker Karim Benzema, who has been very poor in front of goal. Dalglish, who was the man behind bringing Suarez to Anfield in the January 2011, states that the club should retain the 26-year-old at all costs.

‘There will be speculation about Luis Suarez leaving the Reds. There always is. But I don’t think he’s going anywhere. He’s thriving in this Liverpool team and everyone at Anfield knows he is crucial to maintaining a challenge. It has got to the stage now where, if they buy in January, I think both might have a real chance of staying up there,’ Dalglish said.

His importance to the team has been so far proved by the eight league goals he has scored this season. He is level at the top of the goal scoring charts with Daniel Sturridge and Sergio Aguero.

The Liverpool’s non-executive director also says that his club along with Southampton have done enough to be considered as title challengers this season.
