SUAREZ: LEO MESSI IS HAPPY FOR ME AS A FRIEND

Atlético Madrid striker Luis Suarez has revealed that his friend and former teammate Lionel Messi is happy for him even though they both no longer play for the same club anymore. Suarez left Barcelona at the end of last season following the arrival of Ronald Koeman as the club’s new manager. Koeman was brought in to replace Quique Setien who was sacked by the club’s board following a run of poor performance and results.

After Koeman took over as the new manager, one of the first decisions he made was to tell Suarez that he is no longer trusted at the club and that he should start looking for a new club because they felt he could no longer perform at the highest level. The Uruguayan international striker then left Camp Nou and signed for Barca’s rivals Atletico Madrid in a £7 million deal.

Suarez would then go on to immediately establish himself as one of the most important players at the Madrid club and then went on to score 20 goals in the Spanish La Liga and played a very important role in helping the Rojiblancos to secure their first league title since when they last did so back in 2014. Following the title victory, Suarez revealed that he left Barca as a disappointed person because of the circumstances under which he was made to depart from the Catalan giants.

He also added that his former teammate Messi was happy for him on his league win and that they both exchanged texts as well. He admitted that he was missing Messi because they were very good friends dyeing his time at Barcelona and that he hopes that they both play for the same club once again sometime in the future.

They have both been touted to finish their playing careers in the United States and they have been linked with moves to some clubs in the Major League Soccer as well.
