RODGERS PRAISES SUAREZ

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has praised the Uruguay striker Luis Suarez by saying that he is the type of player he likes a lot. Luis Suarez was at his best in the Europa league match against FC Gomel.

The Liverpool FC t-shirts ran out 3-0 winners on the night and 4-0 winners on aggregate. This has put them into the group stages of the Europa league, which will be some relief for the club that has been without Champions League football for the last three seasons. Luis Suarez has been linked with a move to Juventus through to the summer, but he recently signed a new five-year contract with the club.

Brendan Rodgers showed why he is regarded with a lot of respect to the club following the goals against FC Gomel. Luis Suarez and the latest signing for Liverpool – the former Chelsea forward Fabio Borini – were on target in this match. This was an extremely good precursor for Liverpool ahead of the start of the new season. Many expected Luis Suarez to struggle this season after coming on the back of a disappointing campaign with Uruguay at the London Olympics 2012. Despite having a very strong team at the football tournament, Luis Suarez could not help Uruguay to win the gold medal.

“Luis is an incredible player. He has come back to us and looked great in training. He is so creative in the box but he also presses very well when he doesn’t have the ball. He is the type of player I love. He is in love with football. He has such passion for the game. His combination work with Steven Gerrard and Fabio Borini was excellent,” said Brendan Rodgers after the match. Liverpool will be starting the new season with the away match against West Bromwich Albion, who are managed by the former assistant manager Steve Clarke.
