AC MILAN SET TO COMPLETE CHELSEA’S STRIKER SIGNING

After trying but failing to sign Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez in the summer, Italian Serie A giants AC Milan are now close to closing a deal for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud after offering him a two-year contract. The French striker has always had a huge question mark over his future at Stamford Bridge and he looks set to finally leave the Blues after a couple of years since signing from Arsenal. He has fallen behind Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham in the pecking order at Chelsea in recent times and even though he has never handed in a transfer request, it has always been his desire to leave Chelsea.

The 34-year-old almost signed for Inter Milan in the January transfer window after his former manager Antonio Conte offered him the chance to join them but the proposed move was blocked by Chelsea as they wanted him to remain at the club as another striker option. Milan were part of the uhs that tried to sign Suarez last summer, as well as Juventus, but he ended up signing for Spanish La Liga giants Atlético Madrid and would then go on to help the Rojiblancos to win their first league title since 2014.

Giroud is expected to travel to Italy to complete his medicals and sign a two-year deal with the Rossoneri and will be the Italian club’s second signing after they announced that Sandro Tonali has signed a permanent contract at the San Siro. Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will continue at the club next season but even though he was a star performer for them last season, he had a lot of the team’s responsibility to handle but with Giroud expected to complete his move in the coming days, the burden on Zlatan is expected to be halved.
